Currently a year 6 teacher and Assistant Headteacher at Catherine Junior School, I have always worked in some form of education setting. Initially, as a post graduate student (my PhD was all about finding similarities between different plant viruses), I subsequently worked at University of Leicester where I developed the use of electronic voting systems, plagiarism and its detection by electronic means and using web 2 tools and social media. During my teacher training, I became a Google Certified Innovator, and I have continued to pursued my passion for educational technology. I became a CAS Master Teacher and set up the North Leicester Primary CAS hub which supported the local network of computing teachers in the city.

I am very proud to be the Principal at Heatherbrook Primary Academy. I am in my sixth year of headship here and the school has undergone a remarkable transformation due to the hard work and determination of the whole staff. Before coming to Heatherbrook I spent many years working in north Nottinghamshire as a year 6 class teacher and then as deputy head. I am fortunate to have taught in every year group in the primary phase although most of my teaching experience has been in year 6. The theatre is one of my passions and I am fortunate to have spent time as a Drama tutor for young people aged 10 to 18 at Eleventh Session – part of the Nottinghamshire Arts Support Service. Watching live theatre and listening to music are my favourite pastimes, along with running and watching Manchester City play football.

Prior to my retirement I worked for HSBC for twenty years as a Senior International Business Development Executive. I was responsible for Finance teams in Canary Wharf London, Frankfurt, Monaco & Geneva. I travelled to all these locations training and developing my reports and assessing business’s for possible “take overs” for HSBC.

I am a keen Leicester City supporter and have been a season ticket holder for over 30 years.

My family all live in Leicestershire and I have five grandchildren.
